About Senior Voices

Why We Exist

Our founder never got to meet their grandparents. They passed away before the founder was born, leaving a gap where stories, wisdom, and warm memories should have been.

That personal loss sparked something bigger. Senior Voices started as one person's search for the grandparent connection they never had. Today, it's become a bridge between hundreds of young people and seniors who are eager to share their stories, their laughter, and their lives.

We believe no senior should feel forgotten. And no young person should miss out on the profound wisdom that comes from really listening to someone who's lived a full life.

What We Actually Do

Every week, our student volunteers show up. Not with clipboards or agendas, but with genuine curiosity and open hearts. They sit with seniors in living communities, ask questions, play games, and most importantly, they listen.

Sometimes it's hearing about a first job at 16. Sometimes it's learning how to knit. Sometimes it's just being there when someone needs to share what's on their mind. These aren't charity visits. They're real friendships.

Students discover that Mrs. Johnson was once a jazz singer. That Mr. Chen helped build the first computers. That behind every wrinkled hand is a story worth hearing. And seniors? They light up knowing someone genuinely wants to hear what they have to say.

The Ripple Effect

When a 16-year-old learns patience from an 86-year-old, something shifts. When a senior shares a story they haven't told in decades, something heals. These connections change both sides in ways we never expected.

Students become better listeners, more empathetic friends, and leaders who understand that everyone has value. Seniors rediscover their voice, their purpose, and the joy of being truly seen. Families get to witness their loved ones come alive again.

Moments that matter to someone who needed them

"I thought I was just volunteering for community service hours. Instead, I found my third grandmother. She taught me to crochet, I taught her my favorite songs. We both learned that age is just a number when you're sharing stories."
